Ratings Abuse? NO. I must be mistaken...

What is the person, rating this wallpaper with 1 1/2 star, qualified for? Absolutely nothing. My rating to his job: Moronic - no star.

An initial '0' rating on passing through moderation will be a 'bug' aka 'the moderator forgot to post a rating'.

IF something was initially deserving of a 'zero' then it's equally deserving of 'failing moderation'....

When there is a plethora of similarly designed/styled walls their resultant rating will likely wane.....the phrase 'familiarity breeds contempt' springs to mind....others might just call it 'ho-hum', or 'been there - done that'.

Now, don't forget, folks....the rule is....Jafo gets $10 for every 'ratings related' thread....so keep 'em coming......just put your money on the fridge....

If that's the case you should be retiring to your private island any day now.

always thought that one was a bit strange ... hate directed at an object. What did it ever do to you?

My point exactly. It seems that people are prone to rate based on their personal taste rather than the quality or performance of the work.
Filko's wall makes a good example. The design is well crafted (regardless of how many similar designs are there)
The details are sharp and clean. It is intended to be a 'dark' design; therefore the nature of the design should not be taken negatively. It is not a "busy" design, not distracting at all and the color combination is pretty good.
Opinions may vary but weight it all together and this wall is above average.
The same could be said about Horizon's wall that was given a 1 rating (very unfair)

I think personal like or dislike should have some say in rating, but definitely not be the only thing.

Since it's a bug, could someone do something about my wall that has a zero. I realize it isn't one of my best works, but I think it desereves better than a zero. It's the Peace of the ancients one. Thanks!!!

When it comes to art, there will be some degree of subjective judgement. It's impossible to be 100% objecttive in regards to art. A_67 has broken it down as objectively as an admin may possibly do it with the exception of overuse of an idea or in the words of the great philosopher Steven Tyler "Same old story, same old song and dance, my friend". The fact of the matter is if someone could come up with a trend setting style or unique wallpaper, it might get 5 stars even if it was not technical or had not been at all time consuming to the artist to make. Just some observations I've made.

Oops!!! Another apology!! Looks like I'm on a roll. LOL Thank you very much Master Apocalypse 67.

Actually, I do give some things a 0 rating. But only if they are personal page only.  Otherwise, like Jafo said, a 0 rating is a bug.

I thought all things posted for Personal Site only are with no rating.
on Sep 18, 2005
I would say that is BS. I gave you 5 stars!!!

Thanks. Now the logon gets a rating at least.
